State College, PA -  The Boston Lady Whalers Elite Hockey Club is please to share that a pair of BLW 2007-born defenders, Shelby Shane and Sophie Morrow, have committed to Penn State University for the Fall of 2025.

Shelby Shane, a native of Kutztown, PA, grew up playing her youth hockey with the Valley Forge Minutemen Boys '07 Elite Team. A dominant defender by nature, Shelby's powerful stride and her ability to protect the puck in transition makes her a force to be reckoned with each time she is on the ice. She matriculated onward to play with the girls last season, tallying 8 goals and adding 37 assists for 45 points in 66 games as she policed the blue line for the Philadelphia Jr Flyers U16 Team. This season, she is playing up at the U19 Tier 1 level for the Philadelphia Jr Flyers and having a tremendous season.

Sophie Morrow hails from Darien, CT, and is currently an anchor on the defensive core for Shattuck St. Mary's Prep Team. She grew up playing her youth hockey for the Mid-Fairfield Jr Rangers '07 Boys Elite Team. A strong and sturdy defender, Morrow excels in gap control and shutting down the rush. She has played for the Shattuck St. Mary's U16 Team the past three seasons, before being selected to play up with the Prep Team this year. Last season with the U16's, she netted 15 goals and added 41 assists for 56 points in 61 games. Sophie's older brother Scott was selected in the 2nd Round of the 2021 NHL Draft by the Carolina Hurricanes, and her older sister Sydney is a lifelong Lady Whalers '04 defender who currently stars at Colgate University.

Congratulations to Shelby, Sophie, and their families on this tremendous milestone in their hockey journeys. We are so proud of both of you, and will be rooting you on in Happy Valley! Go Nittany Lions!
