Hooksett, NH - The Boston Lady Whalers crossed the state border this past weekend, venturing north into New Hampshire, and invaded the Shamrock Girls Invite.   While not on our initial schedule, the Shamrock Girls Invite event was substituted in for a few of our teams as the COVID-19 situation remains fluid here in the New England area.

In the absence of Coach AJ Mleczko, the Boston Lady Whalers 2006 Elite Team found a suitable replacement to be led by, as U.S. Olympic Gold Medalist and future Boston College Hall-of-Famer, Megan Keller, led the 06's to an undefeated weekend.  The weekend began of Friday with a pair of sizable shutout wins over TeamONE and the Connecticut Knights.  On Saturday, the '06 Elites continued to power forward, defeating the Wade Warriors by a score of 4-0 and punching their ticket directly to the Championship Game.  The flood gates opened early, with two goal in the first five minutes, and the team never looked back - defeating TeamONE by a score of 8-3 and claiming the crown as Shamrock Elite Invite Champions.

The Boston Lady Whalers 2007 Elite Team did not have as sweet of an opening day.  After defeating TeamONE 7-0 to begin the weekend, the 07 Elites dropped their second contest by a score of 3-2 on Friday evening.  This set up a do-or-die situation on Saturday, but the '07 Elites powered past the East Coast Militia by a score of 6-0 and earned themselves a bid in the Championship Game.  The 07's jumped out to an early start, and like the 06's they never looked back, defeating the Wade Warriors by a score of 3-1 and taking home the hardware as Shamrock Girls Invite Champions.

Coming off of a recent title at the Beantown Classic just 12 days prior, the Boston Lady Whalers 2008 Elite Team was clicking on all cylinders from the moment the puck dropped on Friday.  The team was led all weekend by Boston College Assistant Coach, Andie Anastos, and had themselves hungry for more wins in their second tournament of the summer.  The 08's defeated TeamONE by a score of 9-2 on Friday morning and followed that up with a 4-1 routing of the Wade Warriors on Friday evening - wrapping up opening day with a 2-0 record and a seat at the top of the standings.  On Saturday, it was more of the same as the '08 Elites strung together another pair of convincing wins over the Leprechauns and East Coast Militia to finish out Round Robin with a perfect 4-0 record and advance to the finals.  In a rematch of the Beantown Classic title match, the BLW 2008 Elites bested the Wade Warriors for a second time this weekend, and took home the crown at the Shamrock Girls Invite to rack up their second trophy of the summer.

The BLW 2009 Elite had a great weekend as well.  After stringing together a perfect record in Round Robin, they came up just short in the finals facing 5-3.

Congratulations to all of our players, and to coaches Megan Keller and Andie Anastos on collecting multiple trophies this past weekend.  A special thank you to our team parents for being so flexible as we adjusted our schedule on the fly, and cooperating with the location and tournament change.
