Boston, MA - The Boston Lady Whalers are thrilled to share that three more of our players have made their NCAA Division I commitments, and will further their careers at the collegiate level.

Sydney Morrow has long been one of the most highly touted 2004-born defenders in North America, and has pledged her verbal commitment to The Ohio State University as a true freshman in the Fall of 2022.  Morrow grew up playing her youth hockey under Martin St. Louis with the Mid-Fairfield Jr Rangers Boys Elite Team.  Often seeded at #1 in the country, she was an anchor on the defensive end for her MFR boys team, and first joined the Lady Whalers back in 2015 where she skated up on our U17 Showcase Team, and has been a member of our program ever since.  Sydney matriculated on to Shattuck St. Mary's where she is currently in her sophomore season on the prep team.   Morrow has already set school records for most goals in a single season by a defenseman, most points in a single season by a defenseman, and most powerplay goals in a single season by a defenseman.  Morrow is an extremely intelligent puck-mover, and is currently on pace to break her own records this season.   Sydney's younger sister Sophie has been a staple on the blueline for our 2007 Team for the past few years, and her older brother Scott is committed to the University of North Dakota!

Shea Verrier, a 2002-born forward from Reading, MA, will take her talents to the University of New Hampshire.  Verrier played two seasons in the JWHL as a member of the Boston Shamrocks 19U Team.  Last year, Shea transferred to suit up for the Cushing Academy Penguins where she has experienced a ton of success.  Currently in her junior season, she was named captain of the team this season at Cushing, and is leading the offensive charge early in the season alongside BLW 2004's Mia Langlois (Northeastern Commit) and Lily Brazis (Northeastern Commit).  Shea's older brother Ryan was a member of the inaugural Boston Junior Whalers 1998 Boys Team back in 2011, and currently coaches in our boys youth program as well as being a defensive dynamo at UNH.  Shea will join her brother at UNH in the Fall of 2021.

Courtney Colarullo, who hails from Groton, MA, is a fast skating 2002-born defender who is currently leading the charge from the defensive end at the New Hampton School.  Colarullo played multiple seasons at Austin Prep, before changing routes to New Hampton last season.  Courtney will be taking her talents to the University of Maine in the Fall of 2022, where she is anticipated to bolster the balance of the Black Bears defensive corps immediately.  Courtney has been a member of our program for a couple of years now, and has been a driving force at both ends of the ice for the BLW U19 Team.

Congratulations to Sydney, Shea, Courtney, and their families on this tremendous milestone in their hockey careers.  We can not wait to follow along, and cheer for you and your future teammates in the years to come!
