Middleton, MA - The Boston Lady Whalers 2007 Elite, 2006 Elite, U19 Showcase teams all headed to Middleton this past weekend, and walked away as Champions at the 2019 CCM Boston Girls Invite.  The 2006 & 2007 Elite teams both strung together undefeated records, and the U19 Showcase Team caught fire on Playoff Sunday to seal the deal.  The 2006 Elite Team continued its terror reign on the event, becoming 4x Back-to-Back Champs 4 years running.

The U19 Showcase Team started off the weekend on Friday evening with a 4-0 blanking of the East Coast Militia.  Saturday had a split in store for the team; after cruising past the Diamond State Royals 9-1, they fell victim to the NS Wings in the nightcap by a score of 4-1.  On Playoff Sunday after earning the #3 Seed and a birth in the semi-finals, the ladies battled past a talented Boston Lady Blues team by a score of 3-1, and set up a chance for revenge against the NS Wings for the title.  On the back of exceptional goaltending and sound defense, the U19 Showcase Team avenged an early tournament loss, and defeated the NS Wings by a score of 1-0 to be crowned champs!

The 2006 Elites had another great weekend, and were led by former U.S. Olympic Gold Medalist and current NHL on NBC Analyst, AJ Mleczko, as well as Toni Ann Miano.  The 06's came out of the gate flying, and cruised past TeamONE by a score of 11-0 in the opener.  It seemed as though they used up all of their scoring in the first game at times, but the girls were able to power past the CT Lightning by a score of 3-0 in Game 2.  Saturday proved to be a mirror image of Friday, as the girls powered past the Leprechauns 7-0 in the morning game, and battled to a 2-0 win over the Boston Coyotes in the nightcap.  After having not allowed a single goal in Round Robin, the team earned the #1 Seed heading into Playoff Sunday.   It was another tight contest with the CT Lightning in the semi-finals, but the girls pulled away by a score of 2-0, and set up a much anticipated matchup in the finals versus a very strong Montreal Pride team.  The relentless effort and tenacious defense that the girls put on display all weekend was too much for Montreal to handle, and the 2006 Elite took the title by a score of 3-0.  This marks the first time in program history that one of our teams did not allow a single goal over the course of a weekend, and in doing so took home the hardware at the 2019 CCM Boston Girls Invite for a fourth consecutive year!

The 2007 Elite Team kicked off the weekend with a 7-2 win over the Atlantic Coast Selects, and followed that up with a 4-0 routing of the Wade Warriors.  On Saturday, the girls cruised past the Leprechauns 9-0, and earned themselves a spot in the semi-finals on Saturday afternoon where the mirrored their score from earlier, defeating the SWHP Selects 9-0.  On Championship Sunday, the 2007 Elites powered past the Wade Warriors for a second time, this time by a score of 3-0, and claimed the 2019 CCM Boston Girls Invite crown!

Congratulations to our U19 Showcase Team, 2006 Elite Team, and 2007 Elite Team on capturing the 2019 CCM Boston Girls Invite, and a special thanks to coaches Dana Trivigno, U.S. Olympic Gold Medalist Haley Skarupa, Toni Ann Miano, Michaela Boyle, Emily Field, and U.S. Olympic Gold Medalist AJ Mleczko for guiding the girls!
